National ADA Symposium

The Fourth Annual Chronic Illness and Postsecondary Education Symposium. Linking Clinical and Educational Perspectives in Service of Students who have Chronic Illness

What: Annual Symposium sponsored by DePaul University's Chronic Illness Initiative. This symposium is geared towards helping university administrators and others who work with students with chronic illness handle the complexities of developing policy and providing services for this population. Opportunities will be offered to interested individuals, academic programs and other organizations to form a coalition to work toward better services and more opportunities for those with chronic illness both pre and post graduation. Presenters will provide specific practical suggestions for academic success and clinical improvement.

The Societal Cost of TBI

What: A Web Cast that will focus on the link between a previous brain injury and problems faced later in life. This will provide an excellent opportunity to collect information to describe the importance of identifying TBI and to illustrate the long-term cost to society. State agencies, Protection and Advocacy Systems, and Statewide TBI Advisory Boards/Councils will be able to use this information to capture the attention of State agencies to assist with raising brain injury awareness and securing funding.

International Conference on Self – Determination
What: Conference - International perspectives on progressive notions of mental health recovery, family supports, community membership, ending forced impoverishment and system change requirements will be part of the focus of the conference.
