About the Webcast

The purpose of this webcast is to provide an overview of the construct of career readiness and its relationship to vocational and psycho-social outcomes in young adult brain tumor survivors. Dr. Strauser will review preliminary findings from a current research study that is examining the moderating effect of career readiness on career, vocational, and psycho-social outcomes in young adult brain tumor survivors. Using research data, Dr. Strauser will discuss how career readiness assessment can be used to formulate targeted strategies that enhance career readiness, vocational behavior, and psycho-social outcomes. 

About the Presenter

Dr. David Strauser is an Associate Professor in the Department of Kinesiology and Community Health and has an appointment in the Department of Special Education at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. He received his Ph.D. in Rehabilitation Psychology from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1995 and has worked as a rehabilitation educator and researcher specializing in the career development and vocational behavior of individuals with psychiatric and cognitive disabilities. He has provided consultation to community based rehabilitation and mental health programs in the area of career development and employment of individuals with disabilities. He has published in national and international journals and has presented at regional, national and international conferences. His current research interests involve the career development and vocational behavior of cancer survivors. He is past editor of the Journal of Rehabilitation and currently serves on the editorial boards of Journal of Rehabilitation and Rehabilitation Counseling Bulletin. He is President Elect of the National Council on Rehabilitation Education and is also serving as Chair of the Commission on Rehabilitation Counselor Certification Scientific Advisory Committee.
